Unite 4 West Africa via Shauku Foundation Projects
Everyone has their own vat of information on Ebola, whether it’s a basic understanding from snippets in the news, a curious Google search or a PHD on the subject. But ultimately, it doesn’t matter how much you know, it matters how much you want to see it eradicated.
A group of London professionals have put their common love for West Africa into action by supporting a number of grassroots organizations, including Médecins Sans Frontières, so that they can continue their excellent work. These organisations are working with local communities in Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea in the fields of awareness & prevention, food security and orphaned child support. Beyond financial support, they are united together in protecting West Africa, and the African continent as a whole from the lasting stigma of Ebola.
Unite4West Africa saw that you don’t need to be a medical researcher or practitioner to contribute to the elimination of this deadly virus. You just need to believe in the power of a collective of individuals to affect positive change, using whatever arsenal they have at their disposal. Whether that’s fundraising, donation or raising awareness, Ebola can become a part of history rather than a part of the news.
Distribution of the funds:
- 50% will go to Médecins Sans Frontières (www.msf.org.uk)
- 40% will go to six grass roots organizations in Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia
- 10% will be set aside for ad-hoc support as and when an organization may need emergency funds
#Unite4WestAfrica. Let’s unite to help Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea!
"I experienced the beauty and friendliness of the countries hit by Ebola before the outbreak on a fabulous trip with Overlanding West Africa in 2013/2014. Things will take a long time to recover and heal but projects like this will help massively especially once the media headlines disappear. Thank you to all involved."
